A Peek at the Week of September 12th

Can't believe that we are about to start our 4th week of school.  Teachers and students are getting to know each other, classroom rules and expectations. Here's a brief glance at what's going on in our classrooms this week....

Reading/Writing: Students will have an opportunity to check out new books this week as all 3rd Graders will be going to the library to visit with Mrs. Edmiston. As they continue to grow as readers and writers, students will continue to monitor their comprehension by using "fix up" strategies and reviewing paraphrasing. Also, they will be wrapping up the week with an assessment of Unit 1.

Math: Students will continue to develop their knowledge of whole number relationship as it relates to Place Value.  As we conclude our first Building Block of Unit 2, we will be looking at "mystery numbers"and continue to round whole numbers to the nearest 10, 100, 1000, and 10,000 by using number lines.  Later this week, we will begin our introduction into Fractions by looking at equal parts of a whole.

Science: We will continue to use our inquiry skills as we observe a "Mystery Object" that is sure to have the students "jumping" with excitement and curiosity! (Hopefully it arrives tomorrow!)

Social Studies: We will be celebrating Freedom Week!
